Top seeds United States secured their place in round three of the World League with a 6-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday.
Any pressure on the favourites was quickly dispelled in three minutes when Claire Laubach found the net with a precise drag flick at the opening penalty corner. The Americans proceeded to dominate the flow of the game and only poor finishing failed to add to the score, that is until 23 minutes when Lauren Pfeiffer doubled their score with a reverse stick finish.
Towards the end of the first half the Americans added another two goals, the first came from a penalty corner strike by Katie O`Donnell that seemed to elude the goalkeeper, three minutes later a shot towards the back post was deflected into the net by Torrie Albini for a 4-0 interval lead.
The second half was virtually one-way traffic towards the Trinidad goal, but the fifth strike was delayed until 52 minutes, Jill Witmer intercepted a Trinidad back pass, she raced into the circle, rounded the keeper, and rolled the ball into the empty net. The Americans completed their scoring two minutes later with a straight strike at a penalty corner by Claire Laubach, and then played out the remainder of the contest.
