India Go Down 0-3 To Australia in Champions League Hockey Semi Final

Australia are through to their sixth consecutive champions league hockey final.  They got there comfortably, with the Indians hardly ever threatening the Australian goal.  The work rate from the Indians was poor, with the Australians running circles around the Indian midfielders.

The Kookaburras started the game at an incredible pace, and kept up that pace for most of the game.  They surrounded Indian captain Sardar Singh with two or three players every time he got the ball, and with Sardar Singh effectively marked out of the game, the attack was starved.  The Indians had only three shots on goal throughout the game, compared to 19 shots on goals from the Australians.

The score could easily have been 7-0 had it not been for great goalkeeping from India’s keeper PT Rao and some lax finishing from the Australian forwards.  Jamie Dwyer scored two goals in the game, and this is the first game for India in this tournament where they ended goalless.
