Delhi remain unbeaten in the hockey india league

Delhi continue to remain the only unbeaten team so far in the Hockey India League, after thrashing the Rhinos on their home ground 5-2.  Gurvinder Chandi scored for the visitors four minutes into the game, and Blackstick Simon Child doubled the lead for Waveriders three minutes later.

Chandi scored his second goal of the game through a spectacular diving strike to make the score 3-0 in Delhi’s favor, and it looked pretty one-sided and downhill for the Rhinos.

However, Simon Child’s countryman from New Zealand Nick Wilson finally scored for the Rhinos four minutes later, after he picked up a cross from Manpreet Singh and smashed it past Waveriders German custodian Nicolas Jacobi. The Ranchi spectators joy was short lived, however, as Rupinder Pal Singh converted a penalty corner early in the third quarter to restore the three goal cushion for Delhi. Gubraj Singh scored another field goal for the WaveRiders in the third quarter to make it 5-1, and Manpreet Singh of the Rhinos pulled one back to give the score a bit more respectability.  Final score, Ranchi 2, Delhi 5.
