England’s women won the bronze medal at the Investec Challenge in Cape Town on Sunday after equalizing twice against Australia.  They won 3-2 in a penalty shoot out. England’s goalkeeper Maddie Hinch was the lady of the day for her country, saving from Casey Eastham and Jodie Schulz.

Fiona Boyce opened the scoring for the Aussies in the 10th minute, but Sophie Bray pulled one back for her team in the 44th minute.  Johnson’s strike in the 52nd minute helped the Hockeyroos take the lead once again, only to see them lose it with a minute to go, when Susie Gilbert converted a penalty stroke.

Scorers:

Sophie Bray 44 (F)

Susie Gilbert 68 (PS)
AUSTRALIA 2 (1)
Fiona Boyce 10 (F)
